Bloggy blog blog
Though I really haven't been up to much lately, Kiel and I are making little appearances in the blogosphere. Most notably is this post from Sight Unseen in the "At Home With..." section.

Kiel was also recently featured on an up-and-coming blog called Downtownfrombehind riding his bike and carrying a large pinata. Cool.

Memories: Under the Bridge Arts Fest '08
I was going through some old footage when I came across 18 minutes of weird that I think was collected back in Fall 2008. It's documentation of Martine Kaczynski's Sky-rights installation at the Under The Bridge Arts Festival. Martine invited artists to "rent" real estate on several different scaffolds scattered around Dumbo in Brooklyn and do performances or show art. Tim Mellema and I participated/videotaped parts of the performances, and this is some stuff that Tim caught. One spectator, shown here, was particularly taken by this work (artist unknown--if you know who it is please tell me):
I'm submitting this to weird dude energy.

Jell-o explosions
Kiel and I have come up with yet another nonsensical collaboration, this time for the 2nd Annual Jell-O Mold Competition at the Gowanus Studio Space. This was an event where people devoted a lot of time to creating beautiful culinary creations and displays of Jell-O, and this is what Kiel and I did:
The categories of the competition were creativity, aesthetics, structural/sculptural ingenuity, edibility/culinary appeal, and best use and showcase of Jell-O. I'm sure you'd be surprised to know that we did not place in any of these categories.

useless machinery
So Kiel and I been on vacation, but we have been up to some small things. We were part of this Design Week exhibition called "Useless Machines" at Oak in NoHo. Sight Unseen covered the event, which you can read about here.
This is our collaboration (photo by Jay Q. Chen):

ipods are the new sketchbooks. Or maybe the old ones now that there's an iPad.
I stopped carrying around a sketchbook when I got an iPod Touch because I have the DoodleBuddy app. It makes drawing on the go a million times easier. Here are a few drawings I've done on my iPod.
Tila Tequila, 2010. I did this post-death of Casey Johnson/removal of Casey Johnson's dogs from Tila's custody.
Mariah Carey, 2010.
